Travis is the real victim.

And for this, we are all the lesser.

Racism, sexism, and elitism have nothing to do with the current uncivilized behaviors demonstrated in these police reports, and have much more to do with a lack of assimilation, belief in the rule of tribalism instead of the rule of law, and a violent, anti-intellectual culture. Those traffic stop studies show a statistical disparity between groups, and for good reason. Come to Dorchester, drive around my neighborhood for an hour, and you'll find out why first hand.

Update: Just had 2 gunshots fired outside our house, no joke. Cops are here, investigating. I'll be very upset if they don't go door to door checking for white privilege.

Racism, sexism and elitism (my personal favorite of the grievance triumvirate) could not be located for questioning.

Travis, who was witnessed as actually aiming and firing the gun, was detained and charged.

What was Travis trying to prove?

So, what happened with the gunshots you heard fired outside your house?

You realize that if you can hear it, it can hit you... depending on what they're shooting with.

Lips Mahoney said...

Shots fired is a rather common occurrence around these parts. They did come and investigate, but what follow up can cops do with no witnesses or victims?

One theory: there’s a new neighbor 3 houses down from us who was observed from day one holding illegal “transactions” in the alley next to his house. I guess this is an improvement over the prostitutes who were the prior inhabitants of that residence. Anyways, this new neighbor was probably protesting white privilege and the arbitrary societal rules (imposed upon him by whites) that cramp his cultural “lifestyle”. I’m sure he’d had enough and randomly let loose with a few shots.

Wouldn’t you if you were in his shoes?

Oh, and another thing: the low rider overblown bass response Honda civic with the wing on the back with the loud muffler/no muffler isn't a public nuisance and civic disturbance.

This isn’t perpetrated by those that could absolutely care less about what obnoxious disturbances they create in other people’s lives and homes.

Instead, it’s best understood as a reflection of the vibrant cultural diversity of young urban black males. Remember, only through deep understanding and an embrace of our differences will people be able to come together as a true community.

Does use of the word "niggardly" cause you discomfort?

GUN ARREST MADE IN DORCHESTER

At about 5:15pm, on Thursday, May 31, 2007, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) observed an individual, sitting on a park bench, rolling what appeared to be a ‘joint’ (marijuana cigarette). Officers approached the suspect and confirmed that the individual was in possession of marijuana. While patting down the suspect, officers felt a hard metal object, consistent with the shape and feel of a firearm, in the suspect’s right pocket. Officers then removed a black firearm from the suspect’s person.

Officers then arrested a 15 year-old Hispanic male from Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.

Last night at 2am I heard a few minutes of what sounded like an exchange of gun fire. Later I hear firecrackers, so it may have been just that.

crime exists, move to places where there is less, or provide ways to stop it where you live. stop the whining

Mark said...

Thanks for the useless input, Anon.

I'm busy getting skilled with firearms so I'll be more able to prevent any local crime.

Anonymous said...

Skilled in firearms? That just shows me who you are. How about creating or taking part in things that help stop crime. Summer rec leagues, etc. have all proven to help combat crime. Don't complain, DO SOMETHING. Is that useless info?

"Skilled in firearms? That just shows me who you are."

Anon, your powers of long-range analysis are profound and super-human if the above statement is true. But when you think about it... you don't know a thing about me.

"How about creating or taking part in things that help stop crime."

A shotgun can put an 8 inch hole in an intruders chest. I'd say that's about the most immediate end to crime of a personal nature right there.

"Summer rec leagues, etc. have all proven to help combat crime. Don't complain, DO SOMETHING. Is that useless info?"

Useless input, as I called it, is to describe what is being discussed on this blog "complaining". I suppose then, by extension, any pundit, social observer or scholar who journals or writes books on the topics this blog covers would, by your incorrect definition, be "complaining".

Cops stop crime. Armed citizens stop crime.

My personal hobbies and/or activities shouldn't be curtailed or lessened because someone anointed me babysitter of potential criminals.

Go play some basketball.

DAILY INCIDENTS FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 7, 2007
SHOTS FIRED LEADS TO 2 ARRESTS IN DORCHESTER

At about 7:40pm, on Wednesday, June 6, 2007, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for shots fired at Harvard and Millet Streets in Dorchester. Upon arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed a blue Honda shooting at people in front of 128 Radcliffe Street. Witnesses were able to provide officers with a full and detailed description of the car and the individuals driving the car. The operator of the vehicle was described as a black male wearing a black T-shirt, black hat and jeans. The other passenger in the motor vehicle was described as a black male, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. A description of the suspect vehicle was immediately broadcast over the police radio.

As a result of the broadcast, officers were able to locate a motor vehicle matching the description provided by the witnesses. During the motor vehicle stop, witnesses were brought to the location of the stop where they were able to positively identify both the suspects and the suspect's motor vehicle. Officers then arrested Demetrius Wardsworth, 18, of Roxbury, and Orlando Waters, 19, of Roxbury, and charged both with Assault with Intent to Murder.

Mark said...

Ah yes, those smooth Orlando Waters are what I like best.

If only I'd had the chance to join a summer rec. league with Orlando, this would never have happened.

What do we do then? Blow everyone away? You'll proably be against the increased tax revenue that will be required to have a police force that you want. You squawked at my statement about getting involved. Tell me geniuses, how do we prevent crime?

"What do we do then? Blow everyone away?"

Such a measure would include you, anon and we couldn't afford to lose you, you're a national treasure. You're our philosopher-king!

"You'll proably be against the increased tax revenue that will be required to have a police force that you want."

Why must the appropriate policy require more outlays of funds? Perhaps there might be an adjustment in the "rules of engagement", so to speak.

"You squawked at my statement about getting involved."

"Getting involved" can happen on a multitude of fronts. That might mean becoming educated about what the threat is (read the police blotter in your city ) and taking measures to ensure your own personal safety. For some, this amounts to issuing feel-good statements about inner city programs such as Head Start or City Year, despite their records of only very modest impact, if any, on crime. It may be instructive to look at Guliani and what he'd done in NYC to reduce the crime there.

"Tell me geniuses, how do we prevent crime?"

First, you lose the smart alec attitude and adopt some humility about something which you're fantastically confused about with regards to causation.

Second, you consider that there has been and always will be crime, as there has been since the dawn of man.

Third, you enforce the laws which prevent unjust actions from being acted out upon innocent parties. That would mean that law enforcement agents apprehend and remove from society, those who prove they cannot conduct themselves in accordance with civil law.

Fourth, you try your best to be a good example by obeying the laws yourself.

Which, when you think of it, should be the most you could honestly ask anyone to do about the fact that crime exists.

Lips Mahoney said...

Your response would fine and dandy Dhun if it weren't for the fact that it fails to address your priviledged role in the historic oppression and marginalization of an entire race of Americans.

Lips Mahoney said...

And Anon: yes, if I'm not for summer rec. leagues or midnight basketball, why of course the only other response would be to "blow everyone away".

There can be no other alternatives, especially for a racist, angry white man like me.

On a related note, Dhun, where you able to pick up that extra load of "urban kill" ammunition I asked for, or were they out again?

Mark said...

As Moshe Dayan once said... "To aim and hit, you need one eye only, and one good finger."

Lips, they not only had your favorite ammo on sale, but they also had "White Riot" and the new "Bango J'Blango"....guaranteed to mushroom perfectly and penetrate deeply.

Guns.

Is there anything they can't do?

Lips Mahoney said...

I have to suffer through it every Thanksgiving, but my Dad always tells the story of how he got stuck on Rt 128 during the blizzard og '78. Car plowed in, no water, and no help for miles. How did he make it home?

You guessed it: guns!
