Oh wow. You mean, there are people who watch daytime television?

I agree with most of your statement. The source should have been aggressively cut off. However, Iran is not Laos and that I beleive was the Bush adminstrations concern. If we provoked Iran without the smoking gun evidence, then the public would have crucified Bush.

I don't think I ever watch the movie Twins. Maybe I should do a search for that on youtube and get some enjoyment out of it if I find the scene.

Anonymous, you make good points. Iran is not Laos, and the current indeterminacy surrounding intelligence claims makes our position in this matter difficult. However, to apply political and military force to the problem doesn’t necessarily require direct intervention with Iran.

I guess where I’d like to see more weight applied is with the use of forces that are becoming newly available (after training and handing over more internal security to the Iraqis) for interdiction on the borders. At the same time, any secure evidence Iran is fueling sectarian violence –which we now have, and I suspect we’ve also had in the past-- should be brought before the international forum of the UN. We and our allies for that matter can’t begin to pressure Iran on this issue if it isn’t brought forth, presented, and done so with urgent priority in full view of the world. It should be part of the daily narrative that explains what’s happening over there and who’s doing it.

The cowered Bush administration appears to be doing neither.
